BRB Kids Program
A parent MUST participate in this course with the child.
This course is specifically designed for children 10-16 years. For the safety of both children and instructors, a parent MUST attend this course with their child. Minimum 6, max 12 people, including parent. This is conducted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings for 2 weeks ending with an overnight camp to test your new skills the Saturday and Sunday of the final week of training.
Classes will start at 5:00 pm and go until 9:00 pm and are taught inside or in a safe outdoor environment, not far from our training facility, while the final camp is in a remote area with few amenities. Training consists of knife handling and safety, fire lighting and safety (including cool methods), shelter construction from man-made materials, providing safe water, basic rope and knot work, basic compass work. Final practical field test will consist of meeting in a remote area, finding a spot to “camp”, and using all knowledge and equipment to ensure your “survival”. Food for this excursion is at your own expense since food is not necessary for a weekend survival situation although some edible plant foraging may be introduced if time permits.
This program, once started, goes regardless of weather, season, or terrain. Please dress appropriately. What I mean by that is, PLEASE, dress according to the weather and season. Be prepared to spend a lot of time kneeling on the ground, since that’s where you are gonna live.
