Basic Bushcraft Tool Use and Care
Basic Bushcraft Tool Use and Care
Before taking this course I had little knowledge of knife and axe care. I was one of those people that just bought a new knife or ax when it got dull. After taking this course I am now able to keep my knife sharp enough to shave the hairs off my arm and able to slice through a piece of paper with my ax.
Not only did I take away some great knowledge in proper maintenance of these tools but also how to properly use them. I didn’t realize just how wrong I was using my knife. This course is great for beginners or intermediate knife and ax users. Ted is full of great tips and tricks, I highly recommend this course!
Basic Wilderness Tool Manufacture
Wow! I truly enjoyed learning how to make these camp comfort items. The chair I built I could take a nap in for days. The pot hook and cooking tripod has made my camping experiences much more easy and enjoyable. If you’re someone that enjoys camping with comfort I would put this course on your bucket list.
Basic Survival Skills
After taking this course, I left more confident about the priorities of survival, shelters, fire starting and material selection for fire starting. I quickly learnt what not to choose for starting a fire as there was more water in my fire pan than on the ground from frozen, living poplar and birch trees. I also learnt that those same green, living trees do not make great feather sticks. With Ted’s guidance I now have the knowledge to go out and select proper material to light a fire in most conditions. Along with the priorities of survival and multiple ways to set up a shelter (including his “2-minute tarp”), I am on my way to being able to tackle the elements in an emergency situation. Ted truly is a professional and wants to help you learn to be safe and equipped with skills needed to survive when you find yourself in a pinch.

Understanding how easily situations can happen and what can be used for survival is a great asset. Our instructors knowledge opened our eyes so we don’t just survive but thrive in any circumstance.
Basic Bushcraft Tool Use and Care
I particularly enjoyed the information passed on to us. It ensures our equipment will always be ready to perform and more importantly ensures our safety when we are enjoying the great outdoors.
Outdoor Cooking Techniques
Camping to me meant simple meals like smokies and canned potatoes. I never realized how easy it can be with the right know-how to cook extravagant meals and impress your family and friends.
